The Company

Bard Engineering Group Pty Ltd is a well-established Australian engineering and manufacturing company servicing the mining, heavy industry, and support sectors across Australia for over 30 years.

Due to continued operational growth, we are seeking an experienced and hands-on Workshop Supervisor to join our Paget operations and support day-to-day workshop performance, safety, quality, and customer delivery outcomes.

The Role

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Workshop Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating and supervising daily workshop operations to ensure manufacturing, repair, and assembly activities are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and to required quality standards.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who can lead by example, work closely with operational teams, and drive workshop performance in a fast-paced heavy engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise day-to-day workshop operations and workflow activities

  • Allocate labour, equipment, tooling, and operational resources to meet production requirements

  • Drive productivity, labour utilisation, DIFOT performance, and operational efficiency outcomes

  • Monitor workshop quality, operational performance, and manufacturing standards

  • Lead and support workshop employees, apprentices, and operational personnel

  • Conduct toolbox talks, monitor performance, and address operational or behavioural concerns where required

  • Promote and maintain a strong workplace health, safety, and compliance culture

  • Work hands-on alongside workshop personnel and lead by example in operational environments

  • Coordinate workshop priorities with Branch Management, Engineering, Procurement, and operational stakeholders

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, workflow, safety, and quality outcomes

  • Assist with customer communication, operational updates, and workshop delivery requirements

  • Support workshop housekeeping, maintenance coordination, and operational asset management activities

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Previous workshop supervision or leadership experience within heavy engineering, mechanical/lubrication, fabrication, mining services, or manufacturing environments

  • Strong leadership, team-building, and workforce management capability

  • Ability to lead operational teams in fast-paced workshop environments

  • Strong understanding of workshop safety, operational risk management, and WHS requirements

  • Knowledge of fabrication, welding, repairs, machining, hydraulics, or heavy equipment operations advantageous

  • Experience managing workflow priorities, labour allocation, and operational scheduling

  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to create accountability and lead by example

  • Computer literacy and experience using ERP or manufacturing systems advantageous

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality outcomes

  • Current Australian Work Rights

  • Current Driver’s Licence

  • Forklift, Dogging, Rigging, EWP, or other High Risk Licences advantageous

  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends where operationally required
